Schmidt & Brown (2011) content that an innovator is someone who is willing to try new things in practice settings using evidence to enhance quality care of patients. They identify four essential factors for an individual to be an innovator. They are: a deep sense of inquiry, flexibility, awareness of unit needs, and posing excellent communication skills.
- Provide an example of someone in your work setting who is an innovator with an article to support your position.
- What practice guideline, policy or procedure would you like to see revised in your work setting?
- Establish a plan of action.
