Withdrawal of US Troops from Syria
Ideally, I agree to withdraw the troops out of Syria. The reason is, I want our troops to be in U.S. soil safe and sound near their loved ones. However, I believe President Trump speaks before engaging his administration, considerations of the pros and cons on what would benefit overall mission success in Syria. The article states “fixing Syria is not the Trump Administration’s goal. Trump is only focused is to destroy Isis and prevent chemical warfare” (Ford, 2018, p. 3). The United States is part of the United Nations, who helps keep international peace, security, makes healthy relationships among countries who work together and reach working balance (United Nations, 2019). President Trump, has reason not to want to force a political settlement in Syrian government. He stated back in April 27, 2016 campaign speech “it all began with a dangerous idea that we could make Western democracies out of countries that had no experience or interest in becoming a western democracy” (Ford, 2018, p. 4). So why push western believes, if other countries don’t want it? Bring the troops back home! I agree with President Trump to withdraw from Syria and downgrade from Afghanistan. Yet, it would be nice to see concrete timelines of when the withdraw is going to happen and the plan of action or settlement the United States will do to stop trying to influence western beliefs into other countries.
