Strategic Management in Public Sector: Case Analysis
Case analysis response should be 1000 words in length (±10%). The case study will be released to students on Moodle in Week 5. The response should identify (i) key problems or issues in the case; (ii) theoretically informed alternative solutions to the problem; (iii) your proposed solution (that is, a single proposal) drawn from the alternatives identified in part (ii); and (iv) a clear rationale for this decision. Students are expected to undertake independent research to examine these issues and gain an understanding of the context. Be wary of simply ‘telling the story’ of the case; rather the case should be used instrumentally to examine key public sector management issues. Papers are expected to be theoretically informed.
As a minimum guide your response should have an introduction, address items (i) to (iv), using the Harvard Author-date referencing system and provide a reference list of those sources actually cited in the text. The minimum font size should be 12, double-spaced, pages should be numbered and any diagrams, illustration or tables included should be suitably labelled and referenced. Your case response may include sub-headings. A list of references used and cited in your response is a requirement for each paper and Harvard-style author date referencing should be used.
