Meditation Discussion on Developing Meditation Routine

GOAL:

To complete a guided meditation and assess your body’s physiological and psychological response.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Download the app Headspace (Links to an external site.) on your phone and create a FREE account. NOTE: If you would like to use another meditation app like Calm that’s fine too, Headspace has a free meditation module which is why I recommend it.
    • On the different types of meditation packs, click on “Basic”
    • Complete Day 1 and Day 2 of the basic pack on 2 different days
    • When doing the meditations, make sure to follow all instructions provided on the app!

After completing BOTH days, please discuss the following:

  1. The time of day you meditated on Day 1 and Day 2 and why you chose this time of day.
  2. Your experience during the meditation each day- how did your body feel physically?
  3. How did you feel right after the meditation was over (on each day)?
  4. Was there a difference in how you felt on day 1 vs, day 2
  5. Based on the textbook, what do you think is happening to your body physiologically during meditation?
  6. How can we increase mindfulness among the general population?
