• 1. Explore the workplace health program at your school and/or place of employment. Does your organization have a coordinated and comprehensive set of health promotion and protection strategies? These should include programs, policies, benefits, environmental supports, and links to the surrounding community designed to encourage the health and safety of all employees and their families. What are examples of the organization’s workplace health promotion policies, benefits, environmental supports, and links to the surrounding community?

• 2. Where in your life have you been a program champion and advocate? What did you do? What challenges did you face? Who supported your efforts and what role did the support of others play in the efforts?

• 3. Five challenges exist for using big data in workplace health promotion programs: integration of disparate sources, consistency/standardization (defined similarly throughout organization), data fragmentation, trustworthiness (confidence in the data), and protection (security of the data). The challenges cause employers to mistrust and resist using the results generated from big data analyses. How do you expect health information management and health informatics professionals to address the challenges and overcome employer mistrust and resistance?
