The History of our Infrastructure
Directions: Using the template provided, write a 3-5 page typed essay on the history of the of a famous New York landmark. Select a landmark from the list provided, or choose one of your own. Begin with an introduction about the general value of important landmarks to New Yorkers and visitors. Your introduction’s very last sentence should be a simple thesis statement stating why the landmark you chose is important to New York. After your introduction, you should have:
- A section describing the construction of the landmark you selected. You should have at least 2 sources.
- A section describing how the landmark is used today or if it no longer exists, how it was used in the past–be sure to discuss how it is used by both New Yorkers and visitors. You should have at least 2 sources that are different from the first 2 sources you used.
- A section containing five photographs of the landmark you selected. Each photograph should have a descriptive caption, be re-sized to no more than 250 kb, and remember to put the url in the references section;
- A conclusion stating your opinion of the future of the landmark you selected or if your landmark no longer exists, the future of that landmark’s memory.
Don’t forget: At the very end of your essay, you need to put your references.
