Describe the social research method assessment.
Length: 1,500 words
Curriculum Mode: Reflection
This assessment is mandatory. You must submit this assessment to be eligible to pass this unit.
Details: Re-read the requirements for Reflective Learning Journal 1.
The requirements for Reflective Learning Journal 2 are essentially the same, but you have fewer
words to dedicate to each learning module! You should intensify your focus onto the key learning
moments for the module, and how these contribute to your broader academic development.
You will have received feedback and feed forward on your Reflective Learning Journal 1. You are
required to reflect on what you learned from the feedback and feed forward you received on your
first assignment that you applied to your second. You should respond to this in your opening
paragraph of assessment 2, as well as demonstrating an application of feedback through your
document. For example, if it was suggested that you pay close attention to English expression or
editing, then it would be expected that a student would demonstrate an attempt to do this; if
comments relate to writing being overly descriptive or list-like, then students should make an
attempt to demonstrate more analytical thinking/writing processes. Utilise the feedback to refine
your discussion
Reflective Learning Journal 2 is based on your learning journey through modules 2,3, and 4. You
need to address each component of the TAP learning framework for each module.
Each module is worth 1/3 of marks for that component.
As with Assessment 1, Reflective Learning Journal 2 is a representation of your active engagement
in this unit. The TAP Learning Framework should guide the development of your learning journal.
The learning journal should not be a simple summary or question-and-answer document, but rather
should be framed as an analytical discussion of each of the key components (for each of the
tutorials). Remember the focus in on your learning, not just what was presented to you. You should
dedicate equal attention (words and effort) to each learning module. To successfully complete this
assessment, you will need to engage with the online content, participate in the tutorials, and actively
reflect upon your learning as you go through the unit.
Further detailed information can be on vUWS under Assessment 2. You should review this
material before starting/submitting Assessment 2
Writing style:
Your writing must be scholarly in terms of use of references and use a formal writing style. However,
because this is a Reflective Learning Journal it is about you and, as such, you are expected to express
it personally. You may utilise first person writing styles, but should remember that āIā can be a
powerful word, and that its power/emphasis depletes the more it is used.
