The top two lessons that stood out to me were HS312-2: Selects the appropriate statistical test for a given scenario and HS312-5: Propose recommendations based on clinical data. With the first lesson I learned how important it was to pick the correct test so that I could get the correct results. In general, the purpose of a statistical tests is to determine whether some hypothesis is extremely unlikely given observed data. Significance testing aims to quantify evidence against a particular hypothesis being true. I think of it as testing to guide research, studies and treatment plans. An inaccurate statistical test method not only creates some serious problem during the interpretation of the findings but also affects the conclusion of the study. My second lesson about proposing recommendations helps to further develop a clinical study it provides recommendations is one step in fostering evidence-based practice. One of the suggested benefits of practice guidelines is to improve outcomes by providing a better quality of care. The recommendations could help further the research and give a better analytical data reasoning or study.
Epidemiological methods are used for disease surveillance to identify which hazards are the most important. Epidemiological studies are also used to identify risk factors which may represent critical control points in the food production system. The most interesting application for me would be the analytical studies. Analytic epidemiological studies measure the association between a particular exposure and a disease, using information collected from individuals, rather than from the aggregate population.

Part 1
HS312-1: Demonstrate foundational inferential statistics methodology.
Successes: Understanding inferential statistics and where to look for specific numbers and data details.
Challenges: Ensuring the data and your conclusions algin.
HS312-2: Selects the appropriate statistical test for a given scenario.
Successes: I would spend time ensuring I chose the appropriate statistical test and gathered the correct information.
Challenges: Data set adjustments for correct output with the statistical test.
HS312-3: Compute inferential statistics using a provided sample data set.
Successes: Utilizing Excel and PSPP and navigating the apps.
Challenges: Adjustment of each data set to get the correct output of information, cutting out the unneeded information in the data set.
HS312-4: Analyze a mined data set using a computerized statistical package to uncover insight to a healthcare problem.
Successes: I got to really understand statistical significance and how it relates to the null and alternate hypothesis.
Challenges: Sometimes the mined data output information challenged my thinking.
HS312-5: Propose recommendations based on clinical data.
Successes: I love this part of the assignments; this is what I love about healthcare. I love making recommendations and looking into what we can do to address issues.
Challenges: Looking at what the best timeline is for recommendations.
HS312-6: Explain the relationship between health data analytics and business decisions to improve a specific healthcare initiative.
Successes: Ensuring you look at data to drive successful business decisions is important. Look at the data to see if your efforts are worth the payout as a business professional. Health data analytics can drive business decisions by initiating objectives before issues get worse, looking at primary and secondary prevention strategies.
Challenges: Sometimes all of the data is not present, or we must look at data from multiple sources.
Part 2 of the discussion:
Share what part of epidemiology is most interesting to you and why.
My favorite part of epidemiology is the research aspect and the analysis of the data relating to the health issue.
