Palace of Versailles

1. Identify your chosen artifact.

An artifact I selected was the Palace of Versailles.

2. Describe the artifact in detail using any applicable senses mentioned in the overview.

This artifact the Palace of Versailles can be described as a citadel where France kings lived in between 1682 and 1789. This artifact is made of French decorative construction with baroque and byzantine minutiae allover. It possesses many columns and archways which are curved as well as smooth floors from the inside. The artifacts appear to have a relaxed feeling with big, sumptuousness spaces, plus several yards and gardens. From my point of view, it might be smelling very floral now; however, Wellington (2017) claims at one moment it was stinking with claims of poor sanitation.Likewise, I envision that sound all over this palace as full of echoes and travels furthest whenever it’s a vacuum, and the public does not access it(wellington,2017).

3. What are the elements of the artifact that you believe are most important to how you

experience it? Does the choice of medium impact your experience?

Among the significant essentials, according to me are the multiple salon’s themes as well as the halls all over this citadel. Therefore, I believe each chamber has a story to tell as they depict France’s history as well as the palace the way the kings perceived it as fit (Wellington,2017). Also, the selection of medium influences one’s experience, as it much diverse compared to a single piece of song, art, or book. Besides, it appears like it would be a different day experience that allows one to discover newer features of the artifact from every look.

4. State your opinion on what you believe is the purpose of this artifact and the success of

the creator in achieving the purpose.

The main objective of this artifact (Palace of Versailles) is showing those authoritative elite rank amongst the noble families using its magnificence and majesty.

5. Discuss how the artifact reflects the culture (or context) in which it exists. Be sure to

address what aspects of culture have relevance for this artifact: politics, history, religion,

social perceptions, technology, media, education, and so on. In other words, how do the

artifact and its culture interrelate?

The artifact the Palace of Versailles replicate French culture in manifold ways. Several parts of the palace possess periodic pieces of paints such as textiles, murals as well as sculptures which are artifacts of their own (Wellington,2017). Similarly, there exist galleries that show political and military achievement through different reigns of kings. For France natives, this was a place to regard and see as a heritage and as an aristocracy symbol.Current cultures mention the palace in diverse channels such as video games, films, TVs, and films. Lastly, the castle has an altar that represents wall paintings of religious portrayals, besides the oratory is the tallest edifice within the grounds of the palace.
