Chapter 4 is a good start but there are several things that need addressing:

1. All the references to tables and figures are incorrect – this can be easily fixed but makes the document difficult to read.
2. The section on resource-based theory contains much background/history – this can be reduced and try to focus the section on exactly what resource based theory is and how it has been used in Information Systems research. Explain what the “process” perspective on resource based theory is and why it fits your research.
3. While the research model is clear and the section that discusses it is well structured, some of the content needs strengthening.
   1. There is no clear use of either resource based theory or knowledge based view of the firm in the discussion. At least the construct “Effective IT Governance” should be renamed to include “capability”. The definitions of constructs and propositions must include some aspects of resource based theory or knowledge based view of the firm.
   2. Some propositions are supported wholly by reference to one paper/book – for example Proposition 1, possibly 2, 3, 4 … This is puzzling as if that reference explains the whole proposition then why are we doing a conceptual study?
   3. The modelling of detailed discussion in other references should probably be included as appendices, and should not be the only evidence for a proposition.
   4. The section on how the model answers the research question is long and difficult to follow. I do not think the logic flow comes through clearly – this section may need to be restructured so that it is clearer.
