Is poor quality healthcare due to inadequate performance reporting procedures?
As the development of the U.S. health care system continues to change, it is increasingly imperative to assess the impact of the various changes. We have seen rising health care costs and people not receiving adequate treatment. Some people feel as though they should not pay for healthcare that does not take care of them or cover the services needed. Healthcare has a substantial responsibility to take care of individuals who are in desperate need of help. Therefore, the system must be monitored to ensure best practices, methods, equipment, and costs are available at all times. In retrospect, hospitals need to be compensated for their time and expertise as they are saving lives. Quality care is a constant reminder that even when we are doing well, we can always do better. Advances in the medical field assure us enhanced quality can be overlooked. It may not be intentional, but we do not want anything to pass causing irrevocable harm.
The health care system is an important part of quality monitoring. In order to know what is broken, one needs to monitor the system often. Quality performance determines factors that are important to customers and stakeholders. Without quality performance, customers will not utilize the services provided and will eventually find someone else to fulfill the medical needs and care. Therefore, healthcare systems should review and audit findings that can potentially become a threat to the customers and the financial backing of the hospital. Poor quality and performance can cause a society to collapse due to health issues (i.e. epidemic). Policies and protocols keep clear lines of communication open so others can see what is going on. Health outcomes count on quality service.
